Apply for a rental water heater

Our authorized technicians will install the right water heater based on your needs. We offer both natural gas and electric models.  You will need a natural gas line connection for a natural gas rental water heater. If you aren't currently a natural gas customer, you can learn how to switch to gas.

We do not sell our rental water heater services door-to-door. View our door-to-door marketing safety information.

Choosing a water heater

We offer a variety of rental water heaters. There are several factors to consider when selecting one for your home. We can help you choose a water heater for your needs when you apply for a rental water heater with us.

 Types of water heaters
Conventional (REG)

Used when there is an existing chimney and the heater can be vented to the outside through the chimney.

Power Vented (PV)

Vents to the outside through a wall in the home when there is no chimney. It can be located up to 50 feet from an outside wall. This type of tank requires electricity to operate the blower motor.

Direct Vented (DV)

If located next to an exterior wall, it can be vented horizontally through the outside wall. This unit does not require a blower motor and uses outside air for combustion.

Combination Vented (COMBO)

Uses a domestic water heater to provide efficient space heating and to supply hot water for domestic purposes. Used with Air Handlers for home heating.

Tankless water heater

A small and compact option, this unit heats water on demand without a storage tank and is direct vented outside of a home.

Electric (ELEC)

Uses electricity for water heating, and does not require venting which provides more flexibility for installation locations.

 Choosing a size

The size and capacity of water heater your family needs depend on the number of people in your home, as well as what you will be using it for. The following chart can help you determine what type of water heater is right for you.

 Tankless water heaters

Tankless water heaters are small and compact units that only heat water when you need it. You don’t waste energy heating water in a storage tank. Tankless water heaters are a great option if you:

  • have limited space in your home

  • want to save energy and money

You can spend as little as $40.04+ HST a month in tankless rental water heater fees. If you use the same amount of hot water annually as with a tank style water heater, you could save up to 25 percent on your hot water heating. View our tankless rental water heater rebate for more savings.
