If you are planning to dig, build, or excavate on your property, it is important to locate your utility lines first. In fact, under Ontario regulations, it is the law. At Kitchener Utilities, we notify cable, hydro, and telephone utilities when we install a gas line on your property. However, when you are digging to put up a fence, make room for a pool, or even landscape a garden, informing the local utilities is your responsibility. Please call before you dig – and help keep your property, your family, and your community safe.

Who to Call

Ontario One Call is a convenient service that helps make notifying the correct utilities easier. However, not all utilities belong to Ontario One Call. For example, neither Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro nor Rogers Cable belong. Be sure to get all the locates you require.

Please allow a minimum of two week's notice during spring and summer months, when most home outdoor projects are completed.

*Sewer line locates are necessary for excavations deeper than 1.2 metres (4 feet).

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro - Call Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro at (519) 745-4771 ext.284 to request a hydro locate.

Rogers Cable - Call Rogers Cable at 1-800-738-7893 to request a cable locate.

Water and Sewer Locates - Kitchener Utilities provides water locates anywhere in the City of Kitchener.

Natural Gas - Kitchener Utilities provides natural gas locates for Kitchener customers north of the Grand River. Union Gas provides natural gas locates for Kitchener customers south of the Grand River. Both Kitchener Utilities and Union Gas are members of Ontario One Call.
