Water & Sewer Rates Change Notices

To maintain and enhance our community’s reliable water and sewer services, the City of Kitchener is increasing your water and sewer rates. Effective March 1, 2010, the water rate is $1.5271/m3. The sewer rate is $1.7295/m3. These new rate increases equate to approximately $5.30 a month for the average household. These increases are an investment in our community and the reliability of our essential services.

Today, the City of Kitchener and Kitchener Utilities maintain a system of hundreds of kilometres of pipes – some of which are over 100 years old.

We are continuing to launch several upgrade projects that will replace many of the old pipes across the city. By replacing old water and sewer pipes, we will benefit from improved water quality and sewer reliability, enhanced firefighting capability, and lower maintenance costs over time.

As a City of Kitchener resident and a Kitchener Utilities customer, you’re entitled to reliable water and sewer systems. That’s why we’re investing in the city’s water and sewer infrastructure so we can create water and sewer systems that serve the needs of today’s customers, and customers for generations to come.
