The finance and corporate services committee of city council will formally consider Kitchener Utilities’ proposed natural gas rates on Monday, June 7th, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the council chambers, 2nd
floor, Kitchener City Hall.

Any person wishing to make representation with respect to this matter may speak at that time. If you wish to speak regarding this matter, please come to the council chambers 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting to register as a delegation.

The proposed rate changes include:

  • Supply rate decrease to 25.0 cents per cubic metre
  • Transportation rate increase to 6.182 cents per cubic metre
  • Variable Delivery rate tier change and decreases as follows:
    • 5.273 cents per cubic metre for the first 100 cubic metres of monthly use;
    • 5.0436 cents per cubic metre for the next 150 cubic metres;
    • 4.5008 cents per cubic metre for monthly use over 250 cubic metres
  • Daily Fixed Charge rate increase to 62 cents per day
  • New rate grouping for customers who use more than 50,000 cubic metres of natural gas annually

*Calculated based on annual use of 2,100 cubic metres of natural gas

Kitchener Utilities takes a disciplined approach to buying natural gas. Our goal is to provide natural gas supply with stable pricing our customers have told us they prefer. We do not make a profit on our natural gas supply program. It is operated at cost. Customers on our supply program pay what we pay to our suppliers – without any
mark-up or discount – and all our customers pay the same price.

Kitchener Utilities is committed to providing the best value possible for our customers.
