How do I pay my Kitchener Utilities bill?

We are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

 

Can I pay my bill using a credit card?


Credit cards are not a payment option. See Bill Payment Options for all your choices.

 

To whom should I make the cheque payable?


Please make cheques payable to City of Kitchener.

 

What do I do to get the utility bill in my name?


Contact us by phone, e-mail, voice mail, or fax and one of our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to assist you. If leaving a phone number, please provide the number where you can be contacted during daytime business hours.

 

I'm moving, what do I need to do?

I'm renting a property and will be paying the utilities, what do I need to do?


You will need to come to our office (Kitchener City Hall, 200 King Street West, Main Floor) to sign a tenant utility contract. A deposit may be required. You will be asked to provide photo I.D. For residential customers, the water deposit is $50 and the natural gas deposit is $150. For commercial properties, the consumption history will determine the deposit amount.

 

I'm buying/selling a property, what do I need to do?

I have no hot water, what do I do?


Call our Service Department at 519-741-2529, and select option #2.


How can I reduce my water bill?

There are many ways to reduce your water consumption, both inside and out. These include having a low flow toilet and water saver shower heads, ensuring you set the water gauge on your laundry machine to match your level of laundry and using a rain bucket to capture rain water for use in your gardens. For more information on water conservation see water conservation.

 

How much is the tenant deposit?


For residential customers, the water deposit is $50 and the natural gas deposit is $150. For commercial properties, the consumption history for that location will determine the deposit amount.

 

Do you offer an equal payment plan?


Yes. For easier budgeting, you can ask to pay your bill on an equal payment plan, providing there is consumption history of at least a year for the property. Contact us for more information.

 

How often is my meter read?


Water and natural gas meters are read monthly, provided the meters are accessible.

What account number do I use to set up Internet or telephone banking?


When paying by Internet or telephone banking:

  • For your Kitchener Utilities bill, enter your 9-digit account number

Some financial institutions require a 17-digit number. If your bank requires a 17-digit number:

  • For your Kitchener Utilities bill, enter 6 zeros, then your 9-digit account number, then 01.
